The Mountaineer Experience
Life at WVU
Your week has 168 hours. We make the hours that you’re not in class just as full of discovery, growth, and fun.
Housing
Our residence halls and apartment complexes are much more than a place to sleep. You will study, relax, create, and dream with like-minded friends.
Dining
A good meal is always nearby. Choose from 3 dining halls and retail locations like Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, World of Wings, and The Sandwich Shoppe and Deli. Looking for low calorie or allergen-free options? We have those, too.
Transportation and Parking
Our electric people mover, the PRT, is the best ride in town. Where else can you glide above traffic in computer-driven cars while studying for your next class? Your student ID gives you free access to the PRT and Morgantown’s Mountain Line buses.
Student Life
We support WVU’s student-centered learning environment. From fun activities and service projects to resources that help you navigate college life, we’ve got you covered.
Libraries
Pioneers have crossed continents in pursuit of humankind’s great discoveries. With our libraries, you’ll barely have to cross the street for yours.
Technology
Wherever you go, we’ll keep you connected to the University resources and services you need.
Get Involved

Adventure WV
With Mother Nature dishing out the lessons, Adventure WV will teach you more about yourself than any book will.

The Arts
As a regional hub for the visual and performing arts, we offer a year-round slate of recitals, concerts, plays, musicals, exhibitions, lectures, and classes.

Athletics
Mountaineers compete in 18 varsity sports. Join the Mountaineer Maniacs for perks like priority seating. Or get in on the competition yourself by playing intramurals or club sports.

Center for Community Engagement
With 200+ community partners needing volunteers, finding new ways to serve (and learn) is never a problem.

Purpose Center
The Purpose Center is a place for exploration and connection. Once you know your strengths and what drives you, you can apply those insights into everything you do.

Student Organizations
Among our 450+ clubs and organizations, there’s a Quidditch Club and a Tax Law Society. So as long as your interests fall somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered.

Campus Recreation
What kind of Mountaineers would we be if we didn’t have a massive climbing wall? You’ll find it, plus fitness equipment, free weights, pools, courts, and an elevated track, at the Student Recreation Center.

Blending Science and Service
Jacob Ford
Biology student from Hurricane, West Virginia
Jacob Ford has always known he wants to pursue dentistry at the WVU School of Dentistry. Inspired by his parents, both dentists, Ford grew up fascinated by the profession’s blend of science and artistry.
At WVU, he’s immersed himself in that balance. He serves as an undergraduate teaching assistant for biochemistry and tutors organic chemistry. He’s also active in the Pre-Dental Club and WVU Helping Hands, where he volunteers with children at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.
Ford hopes to practice general dentistry in West Virginia, serving rural communities and making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
