Does WVU superscore test results, and are tests required?

Frequently Asked Questions

Does WVU superscore test results, and are tests required?

WVU superscores the ACT and SAT for admission, Honors College eligibility, and scholarships. Test scores are optional but may be required for select majors, direct admission to the Honors College, and some scholarships.

We accept multiple test dates and combine the highest subscores from different test dates to create a superscore total or composite. Learn how to submit or update your test scores.

Changes to the Optional Science Section for ACT: the science section is optional beginning April 2025 for online assessments. If you take the ACT in-person, it will depend on the requirement for your state. WVU will calculate 2 superscores to accommodate the optional science section — one including the science score and one without. The higher of the 2 superscores will be used for admission to the University and Honors, as well as scholarship eligibility. West Virginia residents are encouraged to review the Promise Scholarship requirements related to standardized test scores.
