Register for NSO

NSO includes online modules, a virtual advising appointment, and an in-person program in June or July.

Choose your experience

Start by registering for 1 of our 2 types of in-person programs.

NSO

1 Day

NSO is a 1-day program for incoming freshmen and their families. Programs are held on select dates in June and July.

What you’ll do

  • Explore campus at your own pace. Find your classes and view a show room in your residence hall.
  • Meet other incoming Mountaineers, including students from your major or residence hall
  • Hear from all the experts, like our Dean of Students, Residence Life, Financial Aid, and our Orientation Leaders before moving in this fall.

Note: Registering for classes or advising will NOT take place in person.

Cost: Included in Your NSO Fee

NSO Basecamp

2 Days

NSO Basecamp is an optional outdoor experience the day before your NSO program. When you register, you’ll be signing up for both NSO and NSO Basecamp.

What you’ll do

  • Make the most of your visit by adding a 2nd day of programming with our Adventure WV team.
  • Sessions have approximately 20 students, the perfect atmosphere for building friendships.
  • You’ll have fun, explore your environment, and be better prepared for your college transition.
  • View the Basecamp schedule, eligibility requirements, and waiver.

Cost: Additional $35

The $35 will be billed to your WVU student account. If you’re Pell Grant eligible, the charge will be refunded if you attend your NSO Basecamp program.

Are you an Honors College student?

If you’re accepted into the Honors College, you have the option of attending 1 of 3 Honors-only NSO days (June 8, 19, and 25).
