Your NSO Experience
Here’s what to expect from NSO.
Online Modules
Mandatory for students. Optional for guests.
All first-time freshmen are required to complete the NSO modules.
NSO modules open May 18 and must be completed by June 10.
You’ll use your WVU Portal login info to access the modules. Your guest may view the online program by using the guest login option.
You need to complete these modules before you can meet with your adviser and get your schedule set. After you finish the modules, you’ll get an email within a few days describing your next steps (check spam too, just in case).
Submit a Student ID Photo
Mandatory for students.
Say cheese and show us your best smile! After registering for NSO, review WVU ID photo submission details and submit your photo as soon as possible.
Virtual Advising Appointment
Mandatory for students.
Students will not be able to meet with an adviser without first completing the online modules.
During your virtual advising appointment, you’ll meet 1-on-1 with a professional adviser and finalize your 1st semester class schedule. Before the meeting, you should review your college or school’s NSO information in the modules. Honors students should also review the Honors NSO page.
In-Person, On-Campus Program
Mandatory for all students and highly recommended for guests.
Your in-person NSO program is your official introduction to campus. You’ll get answers to your questions, explore campus, and learn about student life from those who’re already living it.
In-person NSO dates are:
- June 1, 2, 5
- June 8 (Honors), 9, 12
- June 15, 16, 18, 19 (Honors)
- June 22, 23, 25 (Honors), 26
- July 6, 7, 9, 10
