NSO Basecamp
NSO Basecamp is an optional outdoor experience at the WVU Outdoor Education Center. Basecamp takes place the day before your NSO program.
What to Expect
At NSO Basecamp, you'll spend 1 day and overnight at the WVU Outdoor Education Center. The next morning, we'll bus you to your NSO program on campus.
Basecamp Schedule
All activities are “challenge by choice.” You may opt out based on your comfort level.
Morning Kickoff
9:30 a.m. to Noon
- Meet your Basecamp crew and get settled at the WVU Outdoor Education Center.
- Morning activities can include meeting other students and guided hikes at Coopers Rock.
Lunch
Noon to 1 p.m.
All dietary restrictions are accommodated if they are reported during the registration process.
Afternoon Adventures
1-6 p.m.
- Students will have an opportunity to explore Coopers Rock.
- High Ropes Course Activities:
- Alpine Tower and Giant Swing
- Odyssey High Ropes Course
- Zipline Canopy Tour
Dinner
7-8 p.m.

Evening Downtime
9-10:30 p.m.
- Relax, play games, or hang out with other students.
- This is your time to connect, laugh, and enjoy our space.
Lights Out
10:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
