Application Guide

How to apply and submit required documents.

Rolling Admissions

The rolling admissions process benefits students in a variety of ways. One advantage specifically for admitted students is that WVU can accept improved test scores and GPA reports throughout the senior year for both admission and scholarship purposes.

Requirements

Application Requirements

  1. Online application: Common Application or WVU Application.
Fee waivers are available for eligible students.
  2. Transcript
  3. Test scores or indication of test-optional.

Academic Requirements

First-time freshman applicants must successfully complete the required high school courses to be considered for admission to WVU. Some colleges and programs have additional admissions criteria or may reach capacity early in the admissions cycle.

Application Status Check

Students may check their application status online.

Counselors interested in knowing if their student’s application is complete should send an email to wvuadmissions@mail.wvu.edu from their counselor’s email address, and a regional recruiter will respond.

Test-Optional

WVU has a test-optional admission policy.

Common Questions

How do students apply to WVU test-optional?

Both the WVU and Common Application are available to applicants applying test-optional. Students will be prompted when submitting the application to indicate if they are applying test-optional.

If applying test-optional, are students directly admitted to their major?

Select academic programs require a test score for direct admission. This is due to the competitive nature of some majors, or limited space. However, WVU will automatically evaluate all applicants regardless of major for the Center for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS). This ensures that students receive an admissions decision if awaiting a test date or another testing assessment for placement.
