September

• Schedule a Visit to WVU
  • In-person, virtual, and self-guided options are available, including daily Visitors Center tours and open house events

November

• Early November - Student insurance portal opens for students entering in the spring semester.

December

• Scholarship notifications are sent to admitted students via their WVU MIX email in early December.

January

• Transfer New Student Orientation for students entering in spring.
• The housing application opens mid-January for students entering in the fall. Admitted students with a paid academic deposit are eligible to pay the housing deposit and complete the application. You are required to live in a WVU residence hall if you are transferring with fewer than 24 credits.

February

• Adventure WV First-Year Trips registration opens for students entering in the fall semester.

March

• March 1 - FAFSA priority deadline for WVU.

April

• The housing room selection process opens in mid-April for admitted students with an academic deposit, housing deposit, and housing application on file.
  • Pro Tip: Learn about your housing options and Living-Learning Communities prior to selection.

June

• All enrolled students are required to have health insurance. The Student Insurance Waiver is available for those enrolling with coverage. If you do not have coverage, you’ll work with the Student Insurance Office.
• New Student Orientation takes place throughout the month.

July

• Fall charges are applied to your bill and available in your WVU Portal beginning the first week of July.
• The Tuition Payment Plan is available in July for the fall semester.
• Housing will release information in July about residence hall move-in.

August

• Scholarship deadline: Students enrolling in the fall must be admitted by August 1 to be eligible for merit scholarships. Admitted students have until August 1 to submit updates to GPA or test scores. Earlier deadlines may apply for some awards.
• Move-in dates and times for residence halls will be released in July.
• New Student Orientation (transfer student programming available)
• August 18, 2026 - First day of fall 2026 classes! Let’s Go!
